Gratitude
According to Merriam Webster, gratitude is a state of being grateful or thankfulness. Far too often the ripple effects of being beaten down by unemployment and navigating the new landscape of reentering the workforce supersedes appreciating the little things are easily forgotten. Having walked way too many times with unemployment, I know what loosing that sense of gratitude does mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This feeling of emptiness is tough to shake off and can feel like one more thing on that already daunting “To Do List.” However, challenge yourself to find ten things each day to be grateful about. Then write them down knowing the visceral effects of shifting your perception can have greater impact where the strong emotions of gratefulness and being thankful can improve your overall outlook and will be present on your next interview.
Expect great things!
